About this form

Binding tariff information (BKU) is an offer to importers, exporters and manufacturers who would like a prior statement on the classification of goods in accordance with the Norwegian Customs Tariff.

You may apply for a binding tariff information if you are uncertain whether or not the commodity code you have found in the Norwegian Customs Tariff is correct.

The commodity code must be entered in the declaration for import and export. You will be able to find information on toll.no regarding possible customs and fees, prohibitions / injunctions and  necessary permits if you know the commodity code for the goods

It is advisable to apply well in advance before the item crosses the border and must be declared.

NB: This form must not be used when first contacting the Norwegian customs

To use this form, you need the accountant role (Regnskapsmedarbeider) in Altinn.

Anyone planning an import, export or production of an item and wishing to identify the goods with a commodity code in the Norwegian Customs Tariff can apply to have their goods classified by the Customs.

Please attach additional information such as good photos and illustrations of the item - even if you are sending samples.

Sometimes it is also desirable to see the manufacturing and / or production method in a flow chart or something similar.

Remember that even if the attached information contains a product description, the boxes in the application form must be filled in with the necessary information / complete product description.

Approved file formats for attachments at the Norwegian Customs are pdf, txt, jpg, jpeg and tif.
