Permit to discharge oily wastewater

If you intend to establish, expand or convert a business that generates oily wastewater, you must apply for a discharge permit from the municipality before you start up. By oily wastewater is meant effluent and urban runoff that contains engine oil, grease, kerosene, white spirit, gasoline etc.

The following require a permit to discharge oily wastewater:

  • petrol stations
  • car wash installations (Section 15-1 of the Regulations)
  • motor workshops
  • bus terminals
  • workshops and provisioning stations for vehicles, construction equipment and rolling stock
  • facilities for undercarriage treatment which either have a cleaning station, lubrication bay, service bay etc.
